Zainuddin Amali stepped down from the chair of Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) after serving as Vice Chairman (Waketum) of PSSI. Deputy Head of Golkar Hetifah Sjaifudian explained a number of ‘homework’ to the new Menpora, one of which was about resolving the tragedy recommendation.
Hetifah said there were many potential figures in her party who could replace Amali. Hetifah believes that Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto will have no trouble proposing the names of his cadres to President Jokowi.
“Yes, there are many (potential figures to replace Amali), because the party is a place to cadre the nation’s leaders. Pak Airlangga already understands and has a track record of potential cadres in the Golkar Party. So there will be no difficulty in proposing candidates,” Hetifah told journalists, Tuesday (28/2/2023).
Hetifah then mentioned that there would be at least 6 homework for the Menpora to replace Amali later. He emphasized that the new Menpora must be able to become a successor to the program that Amali has run.
“The Menpora needs to continue the various programs that have been prepared before, especially Indonesia’s participation in active national and international sports, fostering achievements, and developing and empowering youth,” said Hetifah.
In addition, Hetifah said the new Menpora must be able to socialize central regulations to the local government level so that they can be implemented as a whole. Hetifah also asked the new Menpora to provide ongoing assistance to the Regional Government in the preparation of the Regional Sports Design (DOD).
“Second, good central regulations must of course be supported by comprehensive implementation from the regional level. Therefore, the Menpora needs to intensify socialization of Law No. 11 of 2022 concerning Sports and DBON to Regional Governments. Third, the Menpora also needs to provide ongoing assistance to Regional Governments in preparing Regional Sports Design (DOD),” he said.
The Deputy Chairperson of Commission X DPR continued, until now there has been no special funding from the Government to support the implementation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 86 of 2021 concerning the Grand Design of National Sports (DBON) and Presidential Instruction Number 3 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of National Football. According to him, the new Menpora needs to fight for this with the relevant Ministries, such as Bappenas and the Ministry of Finance.
