He is known for his award-winning comics (Fauve d’Or for The Saga of GrimrBolognaRagazzi Prize for The Panther’s Speech), his committed works and his enlightened albums. At only 35 years old, Jeremiah Moreau has appeared for quite a few years now as a complete and assertive author who digs a well-identified creative furrow, imbued with poetry, philosophy and sociology. However, the author of Pizzlys hasn’t finished surprising us and exploring the field of graphic and literary creation. Here he is revealing a new facet of his talent by taking the reins ofa collection of children’s books published by Albin Michel and baptized Brambles.
The pitch is hard-hitting and not surprising when you know the values and the commitment of this author. Jérémie Moreau promises us stories in tune with the challenges of our time, imprinted with ecology and which make the apology of a world where humans, animals and nature are able to live in harmony : « Let’s stop protecting the garden in front of our house: let’s bring the garden into this house! »
The first two titles, which you can discover in bookstores from March 15, resonate perfectly with this presentation. And because we are never so well served by ourselves and because it is important to embody a collection that we want to wear loud and clear, Jérémie Moreau is the author of one of these two novelties. With Warren’s Chamberhe signed his first children’s book, in line with the panther speech. It is a question here of the god Pan, of an anger which rises slowly and of a nature which scolds. A striking and touching album accompanied by powerful and timeless illustrations.
To accompany it is Hill Hegronformer Young Talents winner in Angoulême, who is also making her first foray into the world of young people with The Great Labyrinth. And it is, there too, perfectly successful. Through the story of Lise and her cat Loupiot, she skilfully questions our obsession with constantly wanting to tame nature. For these two books, the use of a fluorescent orange Pantone color for printing adds a personal touch which already contributes to identifying the originality of this promising collection.
Open the doors of your apartments and the windows of your houses, make room in your library and your living room, these are nice gifts to put in the hands of children, and their parents, to help them grow up intelligently.
