A fisherman in Argentina found a human body in the body of a hiu caught by him and other fishermen. The human body is thought to be that of a man who was reported missing in a local beach area in southern Argentina earlier this month.
As reported Associated PressTuesday (28/2/2023), the human body is thought to be Diego Barria (32) who was reported missing after being last seen near the beach in Chubut Province driving an ATV vehicle on February 18.
The ATV was found damaged on February 20 in a beach area near Rocas Coloradas. However, there was no sign of Barria, so an intense search was carried out by local authorities to find the man who is the father of three children.
Two local fishermen, on Sunday (26/2) morning local time, came to the local coast guard office to report the finding of the body. It is said that the two fishermen initially caught three types of sharks school shark near where Barria’s ATV vehicle was found.
“When they cleaned up the sharks, they found human remains inside one of the sharks,” Daniela Millatruz, the law enforcement official in charge of the search for Barria, told local media.
Millatruz said members of Barria’s family recognized the body as Barria “because tattoos were visible on one of the remains”.
It is not yet clear how the body ended up in the shark’s stomach. Local authorities are continuing their investigation to find out what really happened to Barria.
“We suspect Diego had an accident, and we are currently investigating whether any vehicles were involved,” Millatruz said in a statement.
