Slovak tennis player Anna Karolína Schmiedlová won Tuesday’s first round match at the WTA tournament in Monterrey, Mexico. In the opening phase, she defeated second seed Maria Bouzková from the Czech Republic in two sets 6:4 and 6:2.
In the second round, Schmiedlová will meet the qualifier Caroline Dolehide from the USA, who on Monday handled the German Jule Niemeier smoothly 6:1 and 6:0. The fifth seeded Chu Lin from China is also fighting for the quarterfinals, who eliminated the Hungarian Anna Bondárová after a triumph of 6:4 and 7:6 (4).
