Frida Karlsson had an odd upload before the WC, with a long absence since the overall victory and collapse in the Tour de Ski. The silver in the skiathlon was therefore a positive statement of form.
– It feels like I needed that race. Partly to breathe out and release some tension and not chase anything more without knowing that there is a form there.
What do you mean the tension has released?
– That I myself wanted so much to get back to a basic form, I’ve been under it for a while. You think a lot about how to get there and then you start to tense up.
Closer to the shape than she thought
How close are you to the shape you want to be in?
– I was closer than I thought. I don’t think I’m in top shape, but I know I have a high basic capacity and can go fast on it.
Ahead of the WC’s second distance race, Karlsson sees a clear favourite.
– Ebba. She is super strong and has won everything in the end, so she is the one to beat. I have to focus on my own riding and what I can influence.
Ebba Andersson does not want to take on the lonely favoriteship.
– I think it will be a very tough Frida Karlsson on the starting line tomorrow, she showed good form. One must not forget Jessie Diggins who actually won a 10 km race in the World Cup this year. I’m not counting anyone out, says Andersson.
