So far only as a prototype, but it actually exists. A laptop that can extend its display vertically. Almost double. It is presented by the Lenovo brand at MWC.
At first glance, the unique laptop looks completely normal, but by pressing the button, the upper edge of the display starts to rise and the rest of the display, which has been hidden under the keyboard, gradually slides out. The display is the same one that Lenovo will sell in the flexible Thinkpad X1 Fold, but here it is mounted differently.
Two motors with springs take care of the entire pull-out movement for smoother operation and a more solid design of the display. During further development, Lenovo wants to focus on making the entire retractable structure thinner so that it can all fit into a regular laptop. Nevertheless, even this prototype is not thick and corresponds to a regular Thinkpad.
You can only tell that there is something different by the connectors moved to the front to make room for the pull-out mechanism inside.
For now, it’s just a curiosity without performance specifications, endurance, final design let alone price. Nevertheless, the question remains: Would you like something like this?
