The luck that, since 1812, every year distributes the Christmas lottery has traveled to a multitude of small municipalities and large cities throughout the country and in the province of Almería luck has smiled on the neighbors in up to seven times. This is how it is collected by the historical statistics of State Lotteries and Gambling, which places the Almería region very far from Madrid, which is, by far, the one that has distributed the most ‘Fats’, with up to 106.
Despite the fact that the probability of being awarded is relatively low, since as the mathematics show, buying a tenth there is a 5% chance of winning a prize, which is reduced to 0.001 when it comes to the First Prize, the passing of the years makes it clear that practically any corner of the country’s geography can receive a good pinch from the Christmas raffle, something that happened last year 2020 in up to six locations in the province in which winning tickets were sealed.
It was the case of Antas, where the number 52472 left a third prize; in Roquetas de Mar, where a fourth prize corresponding to 38341 was sold; either Roquetas de Mar, absorbs, the capital or Adra, where the fifth prize of 86986 distributed luck. Also, last year Albox, Berja and Roquetas de Mar they also celebrated another fifth prize thanks to the numbers 19371 and 43831, respectively.
But back to the historical data in the Almería province, it should be noted that of the seven occasions in which El Gordo has come directly, two have occurred in administrations of the Almería capital; two others in the municipality of the common and one in Tijola as in the municipalities of Roquetas de Mar and Vicar, both in the west of the province.
In detail, it was in 2015 when the last First Prize with the Almeria seal was registered, specifically thanks to the number 79140, that was sold in Roquetas de Mar and that traveled to a large number of municipalities in the western area.
For its part, in 2007 and thanks to the 06381, the residents of the municipality of Tíjola saw how Gordo fell in their town. And it was those from El Ejido who in 2002 experienced that same sensation when they celebrated the first prize thanks to the 08103. Many years before, in 1896, the capital of Almería also celebrated receiving the Gordo thanks to the 08669. In the same way, in the capital and in Vícar, First Prize tickets were also sold in 2018, when the winning number was 04211.
And now that a new appointment with the Lottery has arrived, there are many who decide to buy in one place or another according to its history, although as experts point out to why some cities have more ‘Fats’ than others: “The answer is the volume of numbers that are sold in each administration and each city. A specific number bought in a Madrid administration has the same probability of going out as another bought in any other place, but the set of all the numbers sold in Madrid, or any administration that sells a lot, is more likely to come out on top.”
