Prasannadevi is a nun who lived alone for more than 4 decades in an ashram on Mount Girnar, a part of Girvanam with lions. She was known as ‘Mataji’.

At the age of 22, Prasannadevi, a native of Thodupuzha Yeumuttam, joined the monastic community called Little Sisters of Father de Foucault of the Sacred Heart.

Fr. who practiced solitary penance in the Himalayas. After meeting Abhishiktananda Swami, Ekanta became attracted to penance. Later, with a pair of robes and a Bible, Girnar began seclusion in a mountaintop monastery.

In 1997, the Vatican approved the asceticism of Prasannadevi, although according to the canon of the Catholic Church, women are not allowed to lead a solitary monastic life.

After reaching Girnar, he first stayed in a cave. Later he moved to the hut. Many people addressed her as ‘Vanadevi’ when she started asceticism in Kotumkatil. Later, she adopted the name Prasanna. The name Prasanna Devi was finally confirmed as Vanadevi and Prasanna became one.
