The FIFA The Best gala began with the memory of the legend who passed away on December 29, 2022. Pele was bid farewell by his compatriot Ronaldo. “He will be remembered for the impact he had on society and the reality around us,” he said.
Moments later, the organizers began handing out the first prizes. The best goalkeeper was Mary Earps, while the award for the best goalkeeper went to Emiliano Martinez. Winning the World Cup in Qatar with Argentina turned out to be decisive.
“I come from a modest family, so I am grateful to my parents who worked hard to get me where I am today. To lift the World Cup is a great pride for everyone,” said the Aston Villa goalkeeper.
After a while, all eyes were turned to the Pole, who was incredibly moved when he appeared on stage. Marcin Oleksy received the award for the prettiest goal scored in 2022. When the gathered stars saw this goal, they applauded. The result could not have been different – the amp football player was rewarded for this beautiful goal.
“Today I stand before you and receive the award for the most beautiful goal in the world. I got up after the accident, I got up and I am where I stand before you. Thank you to the entire AMP-Football environment. For the fact that someone invented such a discipline and we can fulfill ourselves – said Oleksy in his native language, who received the award from Alessandro Del Piero.
Sarina Wiegman was later named Coach of the Year. She received this award for the third time. — I loved football from the beginning. Women’s football is developing, but this development carries risks. We have to make good choices, the Dutch woman noted.
The best coach was Lionel Scaloni. “Thank you to the 26 players I coached at the World Cup. We wouldn’t have achieved anything without them. There is nothing more pleasant than giving pleasure to your nation – said the Argentina coach.
After the music break, Luka Lochoshvili received the Fair Play award for saving the life of his rival. The Georgian immediately asked for medical help when the Austrian Georg Teigl scored a powerful collision with the opponent.
The atmosphere was heated by one of the Argentinians who, on behalf of all fans from his country, received the award in the category “the best fans of the year”. The Albicelestes were incredibly well supported and the country was euphoric about the great performances of Scaloni’s team at the World Cup.
Then we met the best female eleven of 2022.
And the best male in 2022. Unfortunately, Robert Lewandowski was not included in it, although four strikers were awarded: Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Karim Benzema.
The Pole also failed to defend the title in the “footballer of the year” category. He won this plebiscite in 2021 and 2022. This time Messi, who led Argentina to the World Cup, turned out to be the best.
“It’s been a great, amazing year. It’s an incredible honor to be here. Thank you to my colleagues, coach Scaloni, all my compatriots. Every player dreams of it, but not everyone succeeds. I want to congratulate the fans who supported us tremendously and gave us a beautiful celebration after winning the World Cup,” Messi said.
