Future Mason Mount Of Chelsea is being talked about. The Blues believed to be making stupid decisions if Mount were to be sold.
The 24-year-old midfielder has only the remainder of his contract until next summer at Stamford Bridge. However, Mount has reportedly rejected the offer of a new seven-year contract from the club.
With that situation, Chelsea are said to be willing to sell Mount at the end of this season rather than letting the player go for free the following year. After all Chelsea is not short of midfield options.
Mason Mount has defended Chelsea from junior level until promotion to the first team in 2019/2020. So far, Mount has recorded 33 goals and 37 assists in 192 appearances, which helped the Blues win the Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup trophies.
Former Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit has urged Mount to be kept. According to him, Mount will still be a key player for Chelsea and his status as an English player means a lot to his supporters.
“Chelsea must do their best to keep Mount,” Petit told Premier League Odds. “I know he’s been linked with a lot of big clubs but apart from this season he’s been doing really well and he’s grown up with the club.”
“He’s developed into a brilliant midfielder, with goals and assists, and I think this year is a year of transition for Chelsea. He’s one of the last English players in the dressing room, which is of course important for the fans.”
“Chelsea should not make a stupid decision to sell Mount. He should have stayed at Chelsea,” Petit added.
