Stimulating the brain using implanted electrodes has already shown positive results in various diseases. Only those electrodes are not always well accepted by our body. They are also hard and can damage surrounding tissue.
That is why researchers are coming up with a new way of looking at bioelectronics. They developed a gel that can be injected and that hardens and becomes conductive in response to naturally occurring chemicals in the body. So far it has been successfully tested in live zebrafish, leeches and steak. So there is still a long way to go, but as a thought experiment it is already exciting.
