American space shuttle and rocket manufacturer SpaceX has delayed its rocket launch attempt, which will carry four astronauts to the International Space Station for the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) mission, due to technical failure.
According to the statement made by SpaceX officials, the attempt to launch the rocket, which was planned to be carried out from Kennedy Space Center, was stopped 2 minutes before the launch due to a malfunction in the ignition system of its engine. Authorities believe the problem is with the ground equipment used to charge the engine ignition fluid.
While no new date has been specified for the rocket’s launch attempt, the spacecraft that will carry two US astronauts, a Russian cosmonaut and a UAE astronaut is expected to be sent tomorrow, if the weather conditions in the region are suitable.
Stephen Bowen, the leader of the team, who is waiting for the rocket to be completely discharged to land from the space shuttle, said that they are in good condition and that they will look forward to being sent at the beginning of their mission. Bowen and his team will take over from the astronauts aboard the International Space Station from October last year. (AA)
