On the first weekend in March, the classic car fair OSNA-OLDIES will take place again in the Osnabrück Halle Gartlage. Also this year the oldtimer IG Osnabrück e. V. will be there with a booth and vehicles from the 1930s.
On March 4th and 5th, the ninth edition of the classic car fair OSNA-OLDIES will take place in the Gartlage hall. This year, the booth of the Oldtimer IG Osnabrück e. V. under the motto “Mobility of the 1930s”. On display is a 1933 Pontiac and two motorcycles from 1930 and 1938.
Vintage cars and motorcycles are on display
In 1933, General Motors launched the Pontiac Economy Eight Series 601, a luxury vehicle in the United States. The Pontiac Economy Eight was built until 1935 and was replaced by the Deluxe Eight 8BA the following year. 212,891 vehicles were manufactured in the three years.
The vehicle, which the oldtimer IG Osnabrück e. V. exhibits at the OSNA-OLDIES dates back to the first year of manufacture in 1933. Not much is known about the history. The motorcycle was in Virginia (USA) until at least the early 1990s and was later brought to Germany. The machine hasn’t driven much here, around 5,000 kilometers in the past 30 years. The car stood in a garage for the last few years before it was “brought to life” again by a member of the Oldtimer IG in Osnabrück.
In addition to the Pontiac, the association is also exhibiting two historic motorcycles. The older motorcycle is an NSU 501 T from 1930. This comes from the first owner and is still in its unrestored original condition – a rarity for vehicles from that time. The second motorcycle is a Victoria KR35 SN pioneer built in 1938. Only 158 motorcycles were made in this version.
Regular meetings of vintage car fans
The oldtimer IG Osnabrück e. V. regularly organizes oldtimer and youngtimer meetings on (almost) every 1st Sunday of the month on the storage area of the Osnabrück Museum of Industrial Culture (MIK) at Süberweg 50A. The next big event of the Oldtimer IG is the “official” start of the season on Easter Monday (April 10), to which around 1,800 oldtimer and youngtimer fans came last year with their classics on two and four wheels.
In addition to the events at the museum, classic car enthusiasts meet monthly at the regulars’ table in Gasthaus Thies (Rheiner Landstr. 16, 49205 Hasbergen). It always starts there on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., interested old and youngtimer friends are welcome.
