Quality and controlled performance: PSG defeated Marseille by a difference of class, Mbappé attacked for a hat-trick

MARSEILLE – Footballers of Paris St. Germain triumphed in Sunday’s 25th round of the French Ligue 1 at Olympique Marseille 3:0 and increased their lead at the top of the table to eight points.

Kylian Mbappe contributed two goals to the victory of the reigning champion, Lionel Messi added one hit.

Even after the loss, Marseille remained in second place. The chance to overtake Olympique was not used by Monaco, which lost at home to Nice 0:3. The guests decided to win three points already before the break, Terem Moffi scored twice in the first half hour and Khephren Thuram secured the triumph with a goal into the dressing room. Nice jumped to seventh place ahead of Lorient.

The latter lost at home to AJ Auxerre 0:1. Rayan Raveloson took care of the only accurate shot in the 58th minute. The newcomer followed up on last week’s triumph over Olympique Lyon (2:1) and got out of the relegation zone. The eighth Lorient, on the other hand, continues its unfavorable series, having won only one of the previous six matches.

Stade Rennes jumped to fifth place, winning 1:0 at Nantes. Jeremy Doku scored the only goal and contributed to moving his team ahead of Lille.

The chance to move out of the relegation zone was not used by Troyes, who lost 1:2 on the turf of Ajaccio. After an hour of play, they were leading 1:0, but after two goals by the home team in quick succession, their only successful scorer, Mama Balde, received a red card. Ajaccio is currently behind Auxerre in the table, who are ahead thanks to a better head-to-head match.

An unequivocal victory was achieved by Stade Reims over FC Toulouse, they defeated their table neighbor 3:0 and secured tenth place. The meeting between Clermont and Strasbourg resulted in a 1:1 draw, a point for the hosts was saved by Elbasan Rashani in the 65th minute.
