FC Nantes coach Antoine Kombouaré expresses his regrets after the defeat of the Canaries in the derby this Sunday against Rennes (1-0), during the 25th day of Ligue 1. He says he is “very disappointed, very frustrated”, and this much more than after the elimination against Juventus in the Europa League play-off on Thursday.
“Them, they have nothing. I think they entered the box once. Alban (Lafont) made no saves in the second period.” In the wake of the defeat in the derby against Rennes (0-1), FC Nantes coach Antoine Kombouaré shows his frustration.
“That one, it hurts a lot. That of Thursday, no, he explains about the elimination in the Europa League by Juventus (1-1, 0-3). I have already moved on This one hurts because if you don’t win, you have to take a point. It’s the minimum you have to take against this team in view of your performance. A point is important for the race. for maintenance, for confidence.”
“Against Juve, there was no disappointment, no frustration”
“I said that against Juve, there was no disappointment, no frustration, repeats the Kanak coach. There are many, many there. I am very frustrated, very disappointed for my players who made a match solid, a very good match. When you’re down against this team, you tell yourself that it’s going to be complicated, then in the end it doesn’t. We continued to believe in it, to make the effort together, to go and score.”
Three days before another fiery match, against RC Lens in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, the Canaries fell to 13th place in the championship. Kombouaré regrets “especially this end of the first period when you create countless chances and you can’t score. Even if in the second period we weren’t able to score, we also pushed”.
“How is it possible to lose a game like that?”
He concludes by expressing “a lot of disappointment for the players and for the public. It’s a derby, we don’t like to lose, necessarily we are angry. You say to yourself: ‘how is it possible to lose a game like that?’ It’s the hard law of football, where dominating is not winning. That’s what we learned the hard way today”.
