“I will come with a balaclava, an Opinel and I will make you a Samuel Paty”. It is with these words that a student addressed his high school teacher in Lormont, in the suburbs of Bordeaux.
The 18-year-old, referring to the chilling assassination of teacher Samuel Paty in 2020, was due to stand trial on Friday but got his trial dismissed and placed under judicial supervision. He will be tried on April 6.
“Fuck you and your family”
The newspaper South West reveals that on January 26, the Terminale student refused to come to the blackboard for an exercise and was excluded from class by his teacher. Later, during the lunch break, the young man allegedly attacked the teacher: “Fuck you and your family, fuck you” before referring to Samuel Paty on February 20.
Alerted by teachers, the headmaster of the establishment reported a report to the prosecution the day after the altercation. The young man was arrested at his parents’ home.
Placed under judicial control, it is forbidden to go to Lormont, to meet the professor who implicates him or the witnesses of the case.
