Avian Influenza Infects Humans, Next Pandemic? (Monday Newspaper, 27/2/2023) – Lantern Today

ALTHOUGH currently the risk of infection in humans is still low, the Indonesian government is aware of the New Clade Bird Flu Extraordinary Event (KLB) 2.3.4.4b. This type of bird flu is known to infect humans and has the potential to cause death. Most recently, Cambodia detected its second case of bird flu in humans after an 11-year-old girl died after being exposed. Previously, Argentina and Uruguay also reported one case of the same incident in their countries. Several other South American countries that have reported bird flu virus infections include Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. The World Health Organization (WHO) is reviewing a global risk assessment related to the latest developments in bird flu case findings. It said there were fears of bird flu being the next pandemic.
