All celebrities aim to maintain their reputation, popularity, and ideal image in front of their audience, but sometimes, they lose their way and find themselves behind bars, saying goodbye to the world of stardom and entering the doors of scandals, often because of “scandalous” transgressions.
Saad Lamjarred.. a charge of rape
The Moroccan pop star, Saad Lamjarred, has been in the headlines over the past few days after he was sentenced to 6 years in prison and transferred to a prison in Paris on charges of raping a French girl in 2016 in a famous Parisian hotel room.
Lamjarred, 37, was under the influence of alcohol and drugs when the accident occurred.
Tariq Ramadan.. rape charges
It seems that the spotlight will return to Tariq Ramadan, the grandson of the founder of the terrorist Brotherhood, with the start of his trial this year after he was referred to the “Criminal Court” in Geneva on charges of “rape” and “sexual coercion.”
The facts go back to 2008, and Tariq Ramadan was imprisoned in Paris pending investigation on charges of committing rape crimes between 2009 and 2016 against four women.
Karim Benzema .. a charge of extortion
In 2021, Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was definitively sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, accompanied by a fine of €75,000, for complicity in blackmailing fellow French national teammate Mathieu Valbuena with a sex tape.
Ibrahim Maalouf.. acquitted after conviction
In 2018, French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf was sentenced to a suspended 4-month prison term and fined €20,000 for the 2013 sexual assault of a 14-year-old woman.
The Paris Court of Appeal returned and overturned the verdict, and the trumpeter was acquitted of all charges.
Badr Hari.. charge of beating and abuse
In 2017, the Moroccan world-class kickboxing kickboxer, Badr Hari, was imprisoned for two years, ten months of which were suspended. And that was against the background of his accusation of assaulting and violently attacking Dutch businessman Koen Evrink in a Dutch restaurant, claiming that the latter had molested his wife, according to what Harry told the Dutch court.
Cheb Mami.. Attempted forced abortion
French-Algerian rai star Cheb Mami was sentenced on Friday, July 3, 2009, to five years in prison for the violence he committed against his ex-girlfriend, whom he wanted to have a forced abortion.
He initially faced a ten-year prison sentence upon his return to France, two years after fleeing in Algeria.
Nassim Hameed.. reckless driving
In 2006, Nassim Hameed, the world featherweight boxing champion, a Briton of Yemeni origin, who is known inside the ring as “The Prince” was imprisoned for several weeks in execution of a 15-month sentence imposed against him for driving his car recklessly, causing a traffic accident in one of the cities. Outskirts of England resulted in the driver being badly injured.
The former British champion is known for his theatrical entry into the boxing ring, his speed and strength during the fight.
