Experts are increasingly talking about the departure of crossovers from the roads of Europe. They may be banned altogether reported in a Motor.Com publication. It’s all about the excess weight, which is clearly more than that of ordinary “passenger cars”.
In Europe, the struggle for the environment continues, the rules of which are becoming more and more stringent. But along with the restriction of toxicity, a weight restriction may also appear, which will primarily affect SUVs and crossovers. EADaily recalls that the latter occupy about 42% of the world market.
The logic is simple – the heavier the car, the more fuel is spent on its movement, the more carbon dioxide emissions. According to experts, an official ban is unlikely to be introduced, just European governments will impose too high a tax for high toxicity and for the high mass of the car. Therefore, the purchase of crossovers will gradually come to naught.
In Russia, crossovers are not banned yet, and two long-awaited models of “Tanks” are coming from China, about which EADaily reported earlier.
