Larian Studios currently belongs to one of the most positively perceived gaming companies. Given the projects the studio has behind it, it’s not too surprising that the community really likes these developers. After the announcement that Baldur’s Gate 3 would only arrive on PC and PlayStation 5, a certain part of the players were upset because they thought that, like other development teams, there was a pre-payment of exclusivity, which will at least temporarily prevent a certain group of players from playing the game on their favorite console . However, the reality is ultimately different.
The studio has come up with an official statement, in which it refutes the speculation about exclusivity and states the following: “We encounter different interpretations of what this means, so we wanted to clarify this information. We’ve had an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 in development for quite some time. While developing the Xbox port, we ran into a few technical issues that mean we can’t be 100% sure about announcing it until we’re sure we’ve found the right solution – specifically, we couldn’t get split-screen co-op to work on the same standard on Xbox series X and S, which for us is a condition for delivery.“
The fault is therefore primarily the fact that the development of the Xbox port is not without problems and so it will probably arrive some time after the release of the version for PC and PlayStation 5, which will happen on September 31st.
So – the only reason we didn’t announce an Xbox version is because we’re not ready for it yet. Has nothing to do with exclusivity. More details here https://t.co/FC0juT5qBM
