Democrats: Memorandum of Understanding for the Coalition for Change is Still Being Discussed

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Democratic Party DPP Spokesperson Coordinator Herzaky Mahendra Putra said the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the three Coalition for Change parties is still under discussion.

“The memorandum of understanding is still being discussed,” he said when contacted on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The Democrats once asked to sign a memorandum of understanding or MoU for the three Coalition for Change parties, in addition to the creation of a Secretariat for the Coalition for Change which consisted of the Democratic Party, NasDem Party and PKS.

“In order to meet the adequacy requirement for the presidential threshold of 20 percent,” he said on January 27, 2023.

Herzaky explained that the MoU ideally regulates the commitment of the three political parties to fight for the people’s hopes for change and improvement. Especially economic issues, social welfare, justice, law enforcement, and democracy.

The Coalition for Change can use the MoU to give Anies Baswedan a mandate to immediately determine his running mate in the 2024 presidential election.

“Bacapres was given a mandate to determine his partner as soon as possible.

According to the Democrats, if all of these plans are carried out immediately by the Coalition, there will no longer be a narrative that there is an impasse in the Coalition for Change.

When was the Memorandum of Understanding for the Coalition for Change signed?

Herzaky said that currently the memorandum of understanding is still being worked on by the Change Coalition team. Waiting for the right moment to convey it to the public.

“While still for us internally, in the Coalition for Change,” he argued.

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) will hold a mass rally to support Anies Baswedan on Sunday, 26 February 2023, at the Madya Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno.

PKS invited potential partners in the Change Coalition, namely the NasDem Party and the Democratic Party.

Herzaky said the Ketum Democrat AHY could not attend because of party activities. Moreover, he said, the event at Senayan was an internal PKS.
