Tamil director Halita Shamim has questioned the originality of Nankaal Neret Mayakam directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery with Mammootty in the lead role. Halita is a director who has made notable films including Sillu Karuppatti. Halita alleges that Nanpakalile has mercilessly ripped off many of the beauty features of her film Ele, which she directed in 2021. The director says that she was happy when she realized that both the films were shot in the same location, but when she watched the entire film, she noticed that many other things were repeated in Nandi.

It is unacceptable to steal from a film its entire sense of beauty. We prepared a village for the shooting of the film Ale. It is a joy to note that Naan Yayak is also shot in the same village. It’s a bit difficult to see the beauty that I saw and created is so taken. The ice cream man here is the milk man. If there is an old man running behind a mortuary van, here a mini bus is running behind an old man. Chitrai Senan, the actor-director I introduced, is singing with Mammootty, just like in Ale. Those houses which are witnesses of many times have not come in any other movies. I saw all that in this. There is much more to compare as the story progresses. I am posting this on the basis that I can speak for myself. You can write my picture Ele. But I will not be silent if ideas and aesthetics are mercilessly stripped from it.
