HMD Global introduces the Nokia G22 for 199 euros. The smartphone contains a screen, battery and USB-C charging port that are easier to replace and therefore more durable. The company entered into a partnership with iFixit for this. Nokia also introduces the C32. This smartphone costs 149 euros.
According to HMD Global, the display, the battery and the USB-C charging port of the Nokia G22 can be replaced without special equipment. Tools and repair manuals are needed and the company will offer them in collaboration with iFixit. The G22 also includes a back cover that the company says is made from 100 percent recycled plastic.
The smartphone runs on a Unisoc T606 soc and comes with 4GB of UFS 2.2 working memory as standard. The device runs on Android 12 and Nokia promises two upgrades of the operating system and three years of security updates. The smartphone also comes with an extended three-year warranty. The standard version comes with 64GB of storage, but there will also be a version with 128GB of storage. It will be offered for sale as standard in the Netherlands.
That storage space can be expanded with a MicroSD card of up to 2TB. The device has a 6.5” display with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels. The display has a refresh rate of 90Hz. The G22 packs a rear camera with a 50-megapixel sensor. There is also a 2MP camera with a macro lens and a 2MP camera that records depth information to support the main camera. The selfie camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels.
The smartphone comes with a 5050mAh battery which should be easier to replace compared to other smartphones. The battery also supports fast charging at 20W and can be charged via a USB-C port. A 3.5mm jack is also provided. The device received an IP52 rating from the manufacturer. This means that the smartphone is splash-proof. The G22 is for sale in the Netherlands from today for 199 euros. For that price, customers get the version with 128GB of storage space. The device will be available in two colours: blue and grey.
The manufacturer also introduces the Nokia C32. This smartphone will cost 149 euros and will be delivered in the Netherlands with 64GB of storage space and 4GB of RAM. The Nokia C32 received a 50-megapixel camera and a macro camera with a 2-megapixel sensor. The selfie camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels. The battery of this device has a capacity of 5000mAh and can be charged via a 65W fast charger from Nokia that is available separately. The C32 also receives an IP52 rating. This smartphone comes with Android 13 Go and Nokia promises to provide three years of security updates. The C32 comes in different colors: green, gray and pink.
