The Russian military has probably exhausted its stockpile of Iranian drones, the British Ministry of Defense said in a report on Saturday. According to London, this is likely because there have been no reports of the use of these drones in Ukraine since around February 15. In contrast, from the end of January to the beginning of February, the Ukrainian army shot down at least 24 Shahed-136 drones.

“It is likely that Russia will seek supplies,” the ministry said. “Although these weapons do not have a good track record of destroying their intended targets, Russia likely finds them useful in distracting Ukraine’s air defenses from the far more effective Russian cruise missiles,” the tweet read.
Since the start of the Russian invasion a year ago, the British Ministry of Defense has been publishing daily updates on the progress of the war in Ukraine, citing information from intelligence services. The British government thus faces the Russian narrative and keeps allies on their toes, DPA noted. Moscow accuses London of a disinformation campaign.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby said on Friday that Russia is seeking to further strengthen Iran’s military support for its war in Ukraine.
