The Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández has become one of the players of the moment, since in a short period of time he was proclaimed world champion with the Argentine National Team, became one of the most expensive players in history and reached one one of the most outstanding teams in Europe, Chelsea of England.
After all these events, the former River Plate player gave an interview with the British newspaper The Times in which he told about his arrival in the London cast and his adaptation to England, among other things.
“The amount of money that is paid has nothing to do with me. My job is to go out onto the field and give my best at all times, ”said the world champion with the Argentine National Team when asked about the impressive sum that the English club paid for his pass.
In turn, Fernández spoke about his new team: “Chelsea showed interest in me through my representative before the World Cup. It was the team that did everything possible. I was very happy to have the confidence of a club like Chelsea. I know that it is a club that, traditionally, in recent years has been fighting on all fronts to win cups, always in the final stages of the Champions League, and a club with a winning mentality”.
“I am adjusting little by little. I am trying to accommodate my family as well. We haven’t found a house yet. Currently, we are in a hotel”, commented the Best Young Player of the World Cup in Qatar 2022 about adapting to England.
On the other hand, the midfielder, whose link with Chelsea will last until mid-2031, denied rumors about his absence from two Benfica training sessions, his previous team, in the midst of negotiations for the sale of his pass. “A lot of things were being leaked to the press that maybe didn’t look like what was really happening. I know for sure that I did not miss any training sessions. I know that all the negotiations were carried out between the clubs. I kept going, kept my head down and kept training,” he clarified.
“It’s only three years, my professional career. Really, a lot has happened in a very short time. I still feel that I am in a learning period, in a learning curve”, said the 22-year-old footballer, who has already played 4 games as a starter under the orders of Graham Potter.
Lastly, the midfielder praised the Portuguese Joao Félix, one of his new teammates with whom he has a good relationship. “When you get along with someone off the court, it helps on the field to have that special connection. He is a great player. He is fantastic. He has a lot of ability and many qualities. He is key and important to us and he is on loan. Let’s hope that Chelsea can do everything possible to keep him in June ”, he added about the young man who must return to Atlético de Madrid after the end of this season.
