[Sports News]The “2022-2023 Hong Kong-Kowloon Inter-School Athletics Competition” Group D1 competition started today (24th), and 5 new records were set in the afternoon of the first day. Among them, Leung Ching-hang from the Diocesan Boys’ School in B Grade The 200-meter preliminary round pushed the record ahead by 0.23 seconds, and the A Grade relay team broke the 4×400-meter record; Diocesan Girls’ School had Bai Kaiwen broke the A-Grade 100-meter hurdle record, and his teammates also broke B and C successively in the 4×400-meter relay preliminary competition Grade record. In terms of team results, the men’s and women’s teams topped the list with 32 points and 12 points respectively after completing the first day of competition.

Men’s Form Four student Liang Jingheng took the lead in breaking the academic record in the afternoon race. He set a time of 21.90 seconds in the B Grade 200-meter preliminary round, which was 0.23 seconds faster than the old record set by his brother Chen Yinlin in 2009-10. When he crossed the line, he looked at the big clock and yelled excitedly. He admitted that he did not expect to be able to run this time: “I originally expected it to be about 22 seconds. I am really happy to see this time.” Liang Jingheng was disqualified last year for stealing a step. This year, he will make a comeback and hope to win three gold medals together with the 100m and relay: “The steal last time taught me a lot. This time I know to be calm. I hope I can make up for my previous mistakes.” I hope to meet the time limit this time to participate in the Asian Junior Track and Field Competition. “I have hated it for a long time, and I really want to represent Hong Kong in the competition. If I can run to the Asian Junior Track and Field Championships, I will be very happy.”

The 4×400m relay preliminary race was also staged in the afternoon of the first day. The women’s relay team composed of Zhou Caiqing, Jiang Ying, Li Wencheng and Ye Yitong made their debut in the second group. They finally ran 4 minutes 12 seconds 52 and took the lead. Advance to the finals and break the record of 4 minutes 15 seconds 44 set by the Heep Yunn Secondary School Relay Team in the 2016-17 school year. It was the first time for the women’s “Sister C” team to cooperate. After the game, they said: “Everyone’s mentality is to try their best to advance to the final. I am so happy and excited to break the record for the first time. Everyone practiced hard and cooperated. Although there are only 3 lessons, they all I really cherish the opportunity of training and try my best to do my best, thank you for your efforts.” The four also hoped that they could challenge the final to run within 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

The women’s B Grade relay team consisting of Zhao Xiran, Xu Yingen, Zhuo Nianen and Zou Ziqiao also broke the 4×400-meter record. The four members ran for 4:01.97 and won the first place in the overall score, leaving behind by more than 19 parsecs. In addition to being the second-ranked school, it also pushed back the old record set by Xie En in the 2018-19 school year by nearly 6 seconds. After the competition, the women’s team members expressed their encouragement after witnessing their sisters break the record. They believed that “we can do it if our sisters can do it”, and especially thanked the school and students for their support: “Thanks for the school’s arrangement, the coach’s careful cultivation, and thanks for watching the live broadcast Support our classmates, this record belongs to them.” They continued to point out that they hoped to help the school pass on the winning streak and have confidence in the winning streak, but they did not want their grades to become pressure on the team members.

The men’s A Grade 4×400 relay preliminaries held at the finale also set a new record. In the men’s division, Cai Wenzhao, Yang Zhixi, Liu Junshen and Zhu Luoyan jointly ran in 3 minutes 25.18 seconds, 0.5 times faster than the record set by La Salle College five years ago Second. Summarizing the first day of events, a total of 8 new records were born throughout the day (see the table below for details).

After completing the first day of competition, the Diocesan Boys’ School team temporarily topped the list with 110 points, Hong Kong Wah Yan College, Hong Kong Kaiping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School and La Salle ranked second to fourth with 78, 77 and 70 points respectively. For the girls’ group, Diocesan Girls’ School temporarily ranked first with 125 points, followed by Good Hope School with 113 points, and Hee En temporarily ranked third with 97 points. “2022-2023 Hong Kong-Kowloon Inter-School Athletics Competition” Group D1 second day event will be held next Tuesday (28th).

Goh Sip Peng of Lee Qiu Yan Memorial Secondary School won the men’s A Grade discus throw championship with 40m05.
The men’s B Grade shot put championship was won by Weng Yijun from Kaiping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School in Hong Kong with 13.55 meters.
