Die School Uitikon organized according to a media release together with the climate protection organization myblueplanet a so-called Impulse Day for climate protection. On Thursday, March 9th, the pupils in the Rietwis, Schwerzgrueb and Mettlen school buildings will learn more about resources and energy consumption as well as sustainable nutrition in an interactive post run.
For more than two years, the Uitikon school has been on the way to the climate school, it says in the message on the day of action. Together with myblueplanet, she implements diverse and creative educational and climate protection activities that reduce the school’s carbon footprint in the long term. The construction of a solar system is used for this purpose. The Uitikon school recently received the energy school label.
During the post race, the classes learn facts about climate change with playful activities and receive the first simple environmental tips. Activities vary by school level. In the game “The polar bears are getting too hot!”, the younger students become little polar bears themselves, hop on ice floes and experience how the ground melts away.
The middle school slips into the role of climate detectives and solves current cases on the topics of energy, biodiversity or waste. In the Schwerzgrueb school building, a group of schoolchildren are allowed to work with the cook Andi Handke prepare a “climate lunch” and, according to the announcement, learn a lot about sustainable nutrition. gba
