It is organized by the Bayreuth Sports Board in cooperation with the university. The non-profit board of trustees association has 35 members. The head of the sports department, Möckel, and the mayor, Thomas Ebersberger, are there as officials. Most others are called. “Representatives from politics and business as well as former athletes,” explains Möckel. You have chosen the Bayreuth athlete of the year 2022. The winners will be presented today.
Courier is co-organiser
The “Nordbayerischer Kurier” is also a co-organizer of the ball. He honors the team of the year. It’s an audience award. The Kurier editorial team had made a preselection. The readers determined the third, second and first winner. You voted for your favorite over the phone.
“Sport is as much a part of the sports city of Bayreuth as the courier. We feel very connected to the athletes, society and thus also our readers and show this by supporting this event,” says Andreas Heinkel, general manager of the HCSB publishing group, to which the “Nordbayerische Kurier” belongs. He will hand over the prizes to the best teams. “Sport should be able to celebrate once a year,” emphasizes Heinkel, who also sees the Sports Ball as an honor for those “who volunteer all year round to make sport in Bayreuth so successful”. He is looking forward, says Heinkel, “to many nice encounters” on this special evening, for which so many people were already working yesterday and giving the hall a shine.
