Dr. Tharwat Al-Zeini, Vice President of the Poultry Producers Union, said that poultry is a national industry that has achieved self-sufficiency over the past years, and has received the support of the political leadership, adding: “We do not wish to import, there are occasional circumstances, and an existing gap does not exceed 5% of our production, because we are in the season.” Consumption increases“.

And he added, during a telephone conversation with Dr. Muhammad Al-Baz, on the “Akher Al-Nahar” program broadcast on “Al-Nahar” satellite channel, that the state announced the import of 50 thousand tons of poultry, but we may not need this quantity, because poultry production will return to normal soon..

And he added: “There were unprecedented circumstances and challenges, and Egypt is part of the world, and as a result of the crisis, part of the breeders left the productive cycle, but we witnessed a decline in poultry prices and chick prices in the past days, and new production cycles began to appear in the market, and in a few months production will return to normal.”“.

He pointed out that local production is increasing, and within weeks there will be a significant decline in prices and a balance in the market, explaining that fodder is the basis of production, and the continued release of fodder maintains local production, adding: “Producers are not satisfied with the high prices, conditions that were exploited by some importers and traders.” It led to the exit of two breeders, but the production flow will restore balance“.

He pointed out that in the past weeks, there has been encouragement from the prime minister on contract farming, to encourage the cultivation of grain, and to raise the real estate tax, which will lead to the availability of fodder locally..
