China has entered a series of innovative countries

China’s ranking in the Global Innovation Index has risen from 34th in 2012 to 11th in 2022, successfully placing China in the ranks of innovative countries. Chinese Science and Technology Minister Wang Zhigang said at a news conference on Friday.

According to Wang, the RMB R&D spending of the whole society increased from RMB 1 trillion yuan in 2012 to RMB 3.09 trillion in 2022. The total number of R&D personnel increased from 3.25 million in 2012 to more than six million in 2022, giving China the highest number in the world for years. The share of Chinese hot papers, as the top one-thousandth of the world’s most-cited reports is called, was 41.7 percent of the global total.

China is not only a major participant in international cutting-edge innovations, but also makes an important contribution to solving global problems, according to the Chinese Minister of Science and Technology.
