Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – ChatGPT has become a hot topic of conversation in recent months. Just launched last November 2022, the service chatbot it already has 100 million active users.
ChatGPT can be accessed for free and paid. For the subscription version (subscription), ChatGPT users must pay US $ 20 or IDR 304,000 per month.
Well, the popularity of ChatGPT has opened up new opportunities for hackers (hackers) to trick the public. The latest findings, hackers pretend to provide free access to ChatGPT.
Security researcher Dominic Alvery cites the chat-gpt-pc-online site as an example. When opening the domain, it seems as if the user can download the free ChatGPT application for Android phones.
If tricked into downloading the link, the user’s device will be infected with the ‘RedLine’ virus. This virus will steal sensitive user information, it can even break into bank accounts and crypto wallets.
Research firm Cyble reports there are many malware-ridden domains masquerading as ChatGPT links. For example, chatgpt-go.online, chat-gpt-pc.online, and openai-pc-pro.online.
The most terrible discovery was pay.chatgptftw.com. If opened, hackers can break into the user’s credit card.
Apart from fake domains, there are more than 50 fake ChatGPT apps circulating in the Play Store. This app uses the ChatGPT-like logo, icon and naming. For example, ChatGPT1 and AI Photo.
