What is the situation on the Ukraine-Pridnestrovie border and what can be expected from Russia on February 24

The expert does not rule out that the Russians will try to attack the Odessa region.

Against the backdrop of some disturbing news about threats to Moldova from Russiaand, accordingly, to Ukraine, the Ukrainian border guards reported that the protection of the section of the state border of Ukraine in the direction of Transnistria remains strengthened.

What is the current situation on this section of the border and what development of events is not excluded – about this in the commentary for TSN.ua reported border guards and military analyst Alexei Getman.

“If we talk about the border with Transnistria, then this direction has been given considerable attention from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. We understand that this territory Russia has significant influence and can also use it. This direction has long been strengthened to ensure the security of Ukraine,” said the speaker of the State Border Guard Service. Andrey Demchenko.

In turn, a military analyst Alexey Hetman does not exclude that in the coming days in Moldova it may be restless. He does not rule out that a surprise from Russia can be expected on February 24 as well.

“There is now a task force of Russian troops in Transnistria. It consists of about 6.5 thousand people – a large number of service personnel and about 2 thousand of those who can conduct combat operations. It is impossible to expect any breakthrough from this group. But the fact is that a few days ago there was information in Internet publics that a coup d’état was being prepared in Moldova, that it was possible to eliminate the president. That is, the political crisis could turn into a coup. There was also information that “Kadyrovtsy” could be sent there to support the coup and capture Moldova “, – says Aleksey Getman.

To this he adds: “Why is Transnistria important? It can hardly be considered an attempt to attack Odessa from Transnistria. The enemy has no forces and means there. The Russian operational group is in Transnistria, because there are very large warehouses with shells. It is impossible to create a federation, but to create some kind of grouping there that will use ammunition is quite possible, I assume that they want to send “Kadyrovtsy” or other special forces to Moldova to seize power in Moldova, to create a grouping and attack Odessa. that our intelligence and defense forces are doing the sensible right thing in stepping up border security.”
