[smartPC사랑=남지율 기자] If you are a user who is interested in RGB gaming systems, you will have heard of the RGB extension cable connected to the 8-pin cable of the graphics card and the 24-pin of the motherboard at least once. The characteristic of this cable is that the range of application of RGB LED is very wide. Therefore, a more dramatic lighting effect can be implemented.

However, it was difficult to purchase easily because the prices of the products that have been published are high enough to reach almost 100,000 won.

Dasan Corporation’s newly released ‘Defrend GLARE-LINE ARGB Extension Cable’ is expected to significantly lower the entry barrier for RGB extension cables. This is because it was launched at a price of 50,000 won, so you can purchase it with a much lighter mind.

how to install

The Defend GLARE-LINE ARGB extension cable is available in two types. It appears as a 24-pin motherboard model and a triple 8-pin model for graphics cards, so you can configure a more colorful gaming PC when used together.

The Defend GLARE-LINE ARGB extension cable is basically a white extension cable with RGB LED silicone added.

The design is generally similar, but only the 24-pin product has a mirror-like reflective plate applied. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same configuration.

The 24-pin product comes with a 24-pin cable, not a 20+4-pin cable. Since most of the recently released motherboards use 24-pin connectors, compatibility will not be a big problem.

The 8-pin product consists of three 8-pin cables. It is also compatible with RTX 30 series graphics cards (except for 16-pin cable models) and the latest Radeon graphics cards.

The RGB LED is a 5V 3-pin method. Since the configuration is equipped with a 3-pin connector and a terminal, it is convenient to expand additional 3-pin RGB accessories.

I tried installing a 24-pin product. First, after completely shutting off the power of the PC, disconnect the power supply 24-pin cable attached to the main board.

Connect the main board – extension cable – power cable in order to complete the installation of the extension cable.

Next, it’s time to connect the RGB LED cables. When connected to the 3-pin header of the motherboard, the installation including the RGB LED is completed.

The installation process of the extension cable for the 8-pin graphics card is the same as that of the 24-pin. It seems that it can be used without much difficulty even on a PC that has been assembled.

The atmosphere of a gaming PC can be changed most dramatically

After installing the extension cable, I turned on the gaming PC. Even when the cable was bent, the amount of light was uniform, and it was very bright. It boasts more abundant light than most gaming gears, so if you want to decorate your gaming PC more colorfully, you will be satisfied with nothing more.

In the default state, it operates in rainbow RGB LED mode. You can see that various colors are implemented at the same time, and the rainbow effect is very soft.

Noteworthy is that it can be linked with the mainboard 3-pin RGB LED. I was able to sync the RGB LEDs with the ASUS ROG motherboard used in the article as well. In addition, if the motherboard has a 3-pin 5V ARGB header, it is compatible with products such as Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, and Biostar.

concluding

Dasan Corporation’s Defend GLARE-LINE ARGB extension cable is an RGB LED component that will provide a high level of satisfaction compared to the cost for PC builders who prefer RGB LEDs. However, it is somewhat disappointing that there is no ARGB extension cable for 16 pins applied to the recent RTX 40 series.
