The music streaming service Spotify seems to be so busy with side shows such as selling audio books, promoting podcasts and the small-scale conversion of its streaming app that new functions for music lovers are now being implemented as a secondary priority.
While the Spotify Hi-Fi HD option that was announced several months ago is still not visible, Spotify now wants to have the music being played interrupted by artificial speech moderation.
Talking AI DJ
The newly introduced AI DJ should take care of this. A talking DJ designed to make lifelike sounding music recommendations, announce new songs and perform with a personality of their own.
In a first step, the artificially intelligent DJ will be made available to all premium users in the United States and Canada and will initially only be rolled out with an English voice output.
Here the DJ function should also comment on the music being played and provide background information on the recently released album, the artists involved in the piece and upcoming releases.
Scrollendes TikTok-Design
In addition to the talking DJ, the music streaming service is also working on the home view of its mobile application. This should be soon on vertically scrolling cards with music suggestions that can be swiped up and down, reminiscent of the TikTok design of a never-ending feed.
The new design is to be presented as part of the so-called Stream On event, which is being held this year for the March 8 is scheduled. Observers also expect an increase in the monthly prices for Spotify Premium.
After Amazon recently brought its music streaming service Amazon Music Unlimited to the level of Apple Music, Spotify is currently one of the cheapest streaming services in Germany.
