The late 1960s, anti-war demonstrations and the desire to live in a world of peace and love. One of the hippies’ favorite cars at the time was “Volkswagen Type 2″ or the second passenger car model created in the history of VW, also known by the nickname “Bulli”.

Today, the legendary hippie bus has been reincarnated as the “VW ID.Buzz” electric car, and the program “Tavs Auto TV” of the studio “RJ76 Films” has traveled with it along with a person who is a hippie at heart: we have met Reina Sējana in various musical formations – both in “Cosmos “, as part of “Instrumenti”, also in the duet “Bujāns”, possibly in the X-factor jury or as a producer of various musical projects. Rein also likes the art of movement and dance, as well as rhythm.
If the first hippy bus was a real vegan when it comes to power – at the very beginning of the model, its engine could squeeze out only 24 hp, but at the peak of power 54 hp, then today’s “ID.Buzz” is a real athlete: it is driven forward by a powerful 204 horsepower electric motor with a torque of around 300 Nm. Its battery pack has a capacity of 77 kWh, which is enough to reach 423 km on a single charge, according to the manufacturer.
“VW ID.Buzz” is a classic all-wheel drive, its electric motor is also located on the rear axle of the car. The battery block is very thin and is located under the floor of the car, but since it is relatively heavy, the center of gravity of the car is very low – and this has a positive effect on the ride of this bus. Also, those who have a panic fear of the concept of “classic wheel drive” should not worry, because the handling of this car, even on a completely icy road, is quite predictable and safe.
In the interior of the electric car, you will find a lot in common with other VW models, of course, its digital content is dressed in a different design, but the basis is the same. A small display behind the steering wheel, the main control center in the middle of the front panel. The design is clean and uncontaminated – wood, aluminum textures, bands of light and dark materials. Without unnecessary lines, buttons or attributes that could distract from the main thing – driving the car. And also equipment for “smart device well-being” – USB-C charging sockets both near the steering wheel and in the side doors, as well as an almost invisible wireless charging pocket for the phone.
In order to achieve environmental friendliness, ID.Buzz is not only a zero-emission vehicle, but is also largely designed with recycled materials in the interior. Interestingly, VW ensures that the unavoidable CO2 emissions generated in the production process are offset by supporting internationally recognized climate protection projects.
