SANJOSE Portugal expand and remodel the Emergency Department of the Coimbra Hospital and University Center (CHUC)

The Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra has awarded SANJOSE Constructora Portugal the expansion and remodeling works of the CHUC Emergency Service, one of the three largest hospitals in Portugal.
The project includes the construction of a new building for hospital areas of medium clinical complexity in the emergency department. The new volume, which is developed over three floors, is attached to the side block and also includes a connection through an aerial walkway to the cardiothoracic unit. In addition, two external technical areas will also be built to house the ventilation equipment for the expansion area and the existing equipment that must be moved from its original location.
For its part, the remodeling aims to reorganize the interior of the service according to the functional zoning defined by the hospital, respecting the existing structure, but completely remodeling the current hospital infrastructure.
