MUSCAT, 23rd February, 2020 (WAM) – More than 65 participants and exhibitors from the country are participating in the activities of the twenty-seventh session of the Muscat International Book Fair, which will continue until March 4th at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, with the aim of strengthening the publishing sector in the country, and opening the way for publishers to exchange experiences and ideas. .
Mr. Ahmed bin Saud Al Rawahi, Director of the Muscat International Book Fair, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the UAE’s participation in the Muscat International Book Fair is a great addition, as the UAE is witnessing great development in the publishing sector.
He drew attention to the participation of the Emirates Publishers Association and the great books, content and cultural products it offers, the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, the Sharjah Book Authority and other Emirati cultural institutions. He praised the book of His Highness Sheikh Dr. It is entitled “History of Al-Busaid Imams in Oman” 1749-856, in which it sheds light on an important period in the history of Oman.
Al-Rawahi added that the exhibition is a cultural and artistic interface that instills the concept of culture and reading among young people and the general public to activate cultural movement and activity, with the participation of prominent intellectuals, media figures, exhibition directors in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Arab countries, and the president of the Arab Publishers Union.
More than 33 countries are participating in the exhibition – which was inaugurated under the auspices of His Excellency Sayyid Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior of the Sultanate of Oman – through 826 publishing houses and 42 official participation from various parties.
The exhibition includes 1,194 pavilions displaying 533,063 titles and publications, and includes 331 cultural activities. The exhibition has allocated a corner for Omani authors, which focuses on Omani publications.
