Next Monday at Langendreer train station: workshop for political songs

A workshop for political songs will take place at Langendreer station next Monday. The train station writes on the occasion: »On February 19, 2023, the racist terrorist attack in Hanau will be celebrated for the third time.

Three years without Ferhat Unvar, Hamza Kurtović, Said Nesar Hashemi, Vili Viorel Păun, Mercedes Kierpacz, Kaloyan Velkov, Fatih Saraçoğlu, Sedat Gürbüz and Gökhan Gültekin. We would like to dedicate this evening to them under the motto “Remembrance, Justice, Education and Consequences”. Our hearts are sad, but we won’t let ourselves be pushed into speechlessness.

With Kutlu Yurtseven we want to talk about the importance of music, which is both a powerful tool in the fight against racism and at the same time a force that can build communities and provide empowerment.

Kutlu Yurtseven is a social worker, activist, rapper and actor. When he was at school, he discovered rap music with friends. In 1989 he co-founded “Microphone Mafia”. Since then he has been rapping in German and Turkish against racism.

Together with him we want to hear anti-racist songs that show a clear edge against right-wing violence and commemorate the victims.

So please send us your favorite songs so that we can organize this evening with you: gueler.bulgurcu@bahnhof-langendreer.de We are collecting donations for the 19th February Hanau initiative and look forward to your support.«
