Books – Youssef Afifi:
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, affirmed that Egypt’s water resources are fixed and will not change, pointing out that seawater desalination is being discussed and has a very high cost, and there is no other way to move around this file.
Madbouly said during a press conference today, Wednesday: With the utmost honesty, if Egypt had more water resources, we would have been able to double the agricultural plots, but the matter is related to water, not land, and we have a lot of land, but the challenge is to provide water.
The Prime Minister appealed to everyone to have awareness and knowledge that water is an issue of life or death and the survival of the Egyptian state, and to have awareness as much as possible of rationalization in this increase.
He continued: If we are talking about this challenge and we cannot achieve self-sufficiency in important crops, and our current number is about 105 million citizens, then what if we reach 150 million citizens?
