There will soon be a three meter high bronze jug in the Uferpark

The city of Friedrichshafen received a bronze jug more than three meters high from its partner city Peoria. As the city writes in a press release, the work of the US artist Lonnie Eugene Stewart will be placed in the Uferpark.

The jug came to the lake by sea freight from the sister city of Peoria in the US state of Illinois. “Work on the foundation of the work of art, which weighs more than one ton, is expected to begin on Thursday, February 23,” the statement said.

Due to its size, according to the city, the pitcher cannot be set up directly in the town twinning garden between Antonius-Eck and the gondola port, but is placed on the neighboring meadow and connected with a newly created footpath.

This is what the pitcher will look like

Lonnie Stewart presented the prototype pitcher at the 2016 40th anniversary celebrations.

The stylized silhouettes of the two cities can be seen on the hollow cylinder with a bronze shell, as well as various medallions to represent the peculiarities of the cities.

The city was not yet able to show a photo of the mug when asked. A spokeswoman said it was still packed. The Stewart pitcher is to be officially inaugurated in the summer.
