The earthquake occurred 104km SW of Sibiu, 108km NW of Craiova, 140km W of Pitești, 163km SE of Timișoara, 180km S of Cluj-Napoca, 181km SE of Arad, 199km W of Brașov, 215km E of Belgrade, 219km E of Zemun , 227km W of Ploiesti.
Another earthquake occurred on Wednesday night, at 2:25 a.m. in Gorj. The magnitude was 2.2.
The 5.2 and 5.7 earthquakes that occurred in Gorj on February 13 and 14 have so far had 810 aftershocks, but their frequency and magnitude are decreasing, the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INFP) announced ) who also published maps showing new details about the characteristics of earthquakes.
According to these maps, the two large earthquakes of February 13 and 14 had their epicenters located less than 20 kilometers from each other. Moreover, most of the aftershocks occurred in the same area, northwest of Târgu Jiu.
