As quoted from the CNN page, Wednesday (22/2/2023), a study from the Journal of Jama Internal Medicine shows that there is more than one way to eat well and get the health benefits that come with it.

The research mentions that one of the healthy eating patterns that is popular with some people is consuming more whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

According to research, this one diet can also reduce the risk of dying from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory and neurodegenerative diseases.







Professor of nutrition and epidemiology, Dr Frank Hu said people often get bored with one way of eating. This is good news because researchers have a lot of flexibility when it comes to creating healthy eating patterns that can be adapted to individual food preferences, health conditions, and cultures.

“For example, if you’re on the Mediterranean diet and after a few months you want to try something different, you can switch to the DASH diet or you can switch to a semi-vegetarian diet,” she explains.

As chair of the nutrition department at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, he also mentioned another option, namely following the United States diet program.

“Or you can follow US dietary guidelines and make your own healthy dinner plate,” she says.

To test accuracy, Hu and his team used an experimental approach by following the eating habits of 75,000 women in the Nurses’ Health Study and more than 44,000 men in the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study.

Each individual who became a respondent was then asked to fill out a food questionnaire every four years.

“This is one of the largest and longest-running cohort studies to examine recommended dietary patterns and long-term risks of early death and death from major disease,” he said. ***
