Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has retired from tennis. Sania’s professional career came to an end when she lost in the first round of the women’s doubles section of the Dubai Tennis Championship. Sania had already said that the Dubai Tennis Championship would be her last tournament. Sania ends her career with 43 doubles titles and one singles title.
The 36-year-old partnered with world singles No. 23 Madison Keys in Dubai but lost in straight sets to Russian duo Veronika Kudermetova and Lyudmila Samsonova. Saniak also had an extraordinary performance at the Australian Open a month earlier, finishing runner-up in mixed doubles with doubles partner Rohan Bopanna.
Sania made her tennis debut in 2005. In August 2007, Sania achieved her career-high singles ranking of 27 and advanced to the fourth round of the US Open the same year.
