Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg is launching a paid subscription for Instagram and Facebook that bears a strong resemblance to ‘Twitter Blue’.
Meta will launch a subscription to invoice the verification of the identity of Internet users via the ‘Meta Verified’ service which will be valid on Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.
$11.99 per month or $14.99
For the monthly sum of 11.99 dollars per month or 14.99 dollars per month for Apple products due to the commission imposed by the brand, Internet users will have the right to have their identity papers checked in order to obtain the blue account verification and authentication badge.
Better visibility by appearing at the top of Facebook and Instagram search results
Subscribers will have various benefits such as better visibility by appearing at the top of search results and recommendations. Their account will also be better protected, particularly against identity theft.
‘Meta Verified’ will first be available in New Zealand and Australia this week. The subscription is reserved for individuals and professionals over the age of 18 and is not open to business accounts.
Declining advertising revenue
Last year, the Meta group saw its advertising revenue decline for the first time since the Californian group went public 11 years ago. Last fall, Meta cut 13% of its workforce during a massive social plan. Nineteen years after its creation, the Facebook social network now has more than three billion users worldwide, but the youngest most often prefer TikTok.
In 2023, Meta dominates the ranking of the favorite social networks of the French with Facebook on the first step of the podium, WhatsApp and Instagram follow.
