The Council of Ministers has approved this Tuesday a game of 2,520 million euros for scholarshipswhich will be destined to a million studentsand a universal subsidy of 400 euros for students with specific needs of educational support so that families can face the rise in prices. To create this universal aid -which will go to students who suffer from some type of disability- the Government will allocate 200 million of euros, which will benefit 250,000 students to contribute to having “a more inclusive education system“.
This is reflected in the royal decree establishing the amounts of scholarships and study aid for the 2023-2024 academic year, to which Europa Press has had access, which endorses a universal subsidy due to the fact that families with children who have these needs assume additional costs “very significant” to meet the vital requirements of their children, which, together with the current economic circumstances, requires extraordinary support. This subsidy will be added to the amounts that already appear in the call, resulting in an additional increase in aid.
How is the aid distributed?
Specifically, students with specific educational support needs will have the next course 400 euros of universal subsidy for additional expenses of a general nature, to which will be added:
- Until 862 euros teaching aid.
- Until 617 euros school transportation help.
- Until 574 euros school canteen help.
- Until 1.795 euros of school residence aid.
- Until 442 euros help for weekend transportation.
- Until 308 euros aid for urban transport.
- Until 204 euros Help for school supplies.
- Until 913 euros aid for pedagogical reeducation.
- Until 913 euros Help for language reeducation.
The objective with this aid is to guarantee the equal access to education and avoid any obstacle of a socioeconomic nature that hinders or prevents the exercise of this fundamental right. The standard also respects the principle of proportionality“since it does not contain rights restrictions or impose obligations on its recipients”.
