The University of Hong Kong has admitted 8 outstanding athletes through the “Top Athletes Enrollment Scheme”, including Xie Yingxue of badminton, Ho Silang of fencing, He Sile of triathlon, and Lin Zhaoheng of table tennis. The 8 athletes will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration, Social Sciences and BA programmes, they will also be awarded scholarships.
Yan Zhijian, Director of Admissions and International Student Exchange Affairs of the University of Hong Kong, said that the “Top Athlete Enrollment Program” has been launched for two years, and the school has received many excellent nominations. Their development in sports is like that of Japan, and it is not easy to balance the dual-track development of sports and academics. The HKU will try its best to provide them with academic support, so that they can continue to shine on the international stage while realizing their academic ambitions.
The support provided by HKU to athletes includes individual academic counseling, flexible school arrangements and physical training, etc., as well as scholarships to support their development on the sports field, academics and international exchanges.
