Lyutvi Mestan suffered a stroke, and this became the reason for the postponement of the case for the accident near the Momchilgrad village of Zagorsko, in which he is accused. During the meeting, it became clear that the court had received a request from the former politician. Attached to it was a document from the hospital in Momchilgrad, according to which on February 19, Lyutvi Mestan suffered an ischemic stroke and was hospitalized.
The other defendant in the case, Yusein Ahmed, father of the 6-month-old girl who died in the accident, did not appear at the hearing. In his application, he reported that he had learned of Mestan’s illness and therefore did not appear.
The prosecutor in the case, Rositsa Georgieva, asked the court to impose a remand measure on Yussein Ahmed, money bail or house arrest, to ensure that he will appear in court next time. The prosecution also asked that the accused be banned from leaving the country.
The court did not accept the prosecutor’s request and postponed the case until March 28.
