Thiruvananthapuram: A young man came to the Venganur mini civil station with a gun and locked the staff and people’s representatives in the office, alleging that there was no drinking water available. Murugan, a native of Venganoor, came with an air gun and created an atmosphere of terror. The incident happened around 11 am on Monday.
The young man’s protest was alleging that he was not getting drinking water. The young man alleged that he complained several times but to no avail. The youth says that the farmers are in trouble as they have not received canal water for two years.
The young man came with a placard saying to close the panchayat and village office, which could not open the canal water near his house. The young man reached the mini civil station premises and locked the gate with a helmet lock. With this, the employees and those who came to the office were in fear for several hours.
Immediately after learning about the incident, the Balaramapuram police reached the spot and took the youth into custody. An air gun was seized from his waist.
