The dodo was big, unable to fly, and was a very tasty meal. These traits may help explain its extinction around 1662, just 150 years after European ships reached the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, where the bird once lived. Now, an American biotechnology company says it plans to bring the dodo back into existence.
