Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited, on Monday, the headquarters of the Saudi relief team participating in efforts to help the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the country, according to video footage broadcast by the Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel.
Al-Ekhbariya commented, saying that the Turkish president visited the headquarters of the Saudi relief team, “in appreciation of the Kingdom’s humanitarian services,” and that he expressed his “thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.”
According to other Saudi reports, the visit was to the team’s headquarters in the city of Antakya in southern Turkey.
The Turkish President made field visits to the earthquake-affected areas in the southern states, such as Hatta and Kahramanmaraş. He was accompanied by the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahceli, according to the Turkish Anadolu News Agency.
Since the earthquake occurred on February 6, Saudi Arabia has sent at least 10 planeloads of relief aid. A fundraiser has also raised more than $110 million.
